Is sore throat treatment free at 123 Chem?
Yes. Sore throat assessment and treatment is available free of charge for patients aged 5 and over as part of the Pharmacy First service, without needing a GP appointment.
Will I be tested for anything?
Your pharmacist will assess your symptoms and may carry out a test where it's clinically appropriate, as part of deciding whether treatment is needed and what kind.
When should I see a GP instead of a pharmacist?
If you have difficulty breathing or swallowing, drooling, a high fever that isn't improving, or you feel seriously unwell, seek GP or urgent care rather than a pharmacy appointment. Your 123 Chem pharmacist will also refer you on if your symptoms suggest that's the safer option.
