If you're travelling somewhere with a malaria risk, we'll talk you through the right antimalarial medication for your destination, itinerary and personal health history, along with practical advice on avoiding mosquito bites.
Book a consultation with one of our pharmacists, ideally 4–6 weeks before you travel. We'll go through your destination, trip length and planned activities, check your existing vaccination history, and recommend the vaccinations and medication that fit your trip. You'll leave with a written record of what you've had and, where applicable, your international vaccination certificate.
As a group of six community pharmacies covering Newry and South Armagh, we're used to seeing travellers from both sides of the border. Patients travelling from Dublin and the wider Republic of Ireland are welcome to book a travel health consultation at any of our branches — get in touch to find the location and appointment time that works best for you.
Why Choose 123Chem for Travel Health
Frequently Asked
Questions patients ask us most
How far in advance should I book a travel vaccination appointment?
Ideally 4–6 weeks before you travel, since some vaccines need more than one dose or take time to become fully effective. If you're travelling sooner, get in touch anyway — we'll do what we can.
Do I need a yellow fever certificate for my destination?
Some countries require proof of yellow fever vaccination for entry. Tell us your destination and itinerary during your consultation and we'll confirm what's needed. [CONFIRM: only include this if a 123 Chem branch is a registered Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre — otherwise, advise where patients can get this certificate.]
Can I get travel vaccinations without an appointment?
Travel health consultations are appointment-based so we can give your itinerary proper attention — contact your nearest branch to book.
Are travel vaccinations available on the NHS?
Most travel vaccinations are provided as a private service rather than free on the NHS (a small number, like some typhoid and hepatitis A vaccines, may be available on the NHS in specific circumstances). Get in touch with your nearest 123 Chem pharmacy to talk through what applies to your trip.
Can patients from the Republic of Ireland book a travel health consultation at 123 Chem?
Yes — we regularly see patients travelling from Dublin and elsewhere in the Republic of Ireland. Contact us to book at whichever branch suits your journey.
Your pharmacy should feel like part of the community.
Can't find your medicine anywhere else? We specialise in sourcing discontinued and hard-to-get medicines, plus private dispensing.
